Kazumi stands 5'4” and is slender, though she is stronger than her appearance gives her credit for, and weighs 130 lbs. Her skin is light beige and flawless. She has wavy, black hair that reaches to her lower back, though normally it is pulled back in a simple ponytail with a single white ribbon. Two thick strands of hair frame Kazumi's round face, and her hair is always kept clean, soft, and free of split-ends.
Kazumi always wears a calm, reassuring smile upon her face that reaches her almond-shaped, blue grey eyes. She wears the tradition miko outfit with a red hakama, kimono shirt, and tabi. She is also naturally well endowed in the chest area. On a dare, she had them measured once and found them to be size 38DD. Unfortunately, the clothing makes them appear a little smaller than what they are in reality.
Personality:
Kazumi is a gentle and kind woman, often putting the needs of others before her own. She enjoys sitting under the sakura trees in her free time. Her favorite activities then are meditating, reading a good book, and writing. In any activity, she always has her green tea present as she feels that it is the best drink for all. Kazumi does drink sake on occasion but normally only in small sips as she does not hold her liquor well. She is quite intelligent and loves having conversations that broaden the mind. This doesn't mean that she is devoid of humor or the sense of fun. She believes that there is a time and place for such things.
Kazumi believes in giving others a second chance, though she is not a push over. Kazumi is also naturally peaceful and deals with problems by discussing them rather than resulting to physical confrontation. She fights only when all other options have been used with negative results. It takes a lot to anger her, and when she does become angry, she becomes extremely quiet, choosing to walk away rather than continue with a confrontation. When fighting is the only option, Kazumi's miko training takes over, and she becomes cool and calm, her face emotionless.

How she died is unknown to Kazumi, though based on her outfit and her abilities to heal, she has come to the conclusion that she was a miko in her former life. Before entering the Academy, Kazumi lived in Hokutan (Rukongai #3 of the West Rukongai). Upon arriving in the district, she began to tour the areas offering assistance to those in need and provide what healing that she could provide. It wasn't long before she earned the nickname 'Guardian Angel of Hokutan' amongst the residents.
At the age of 88, Kazumi was adopted by the district's healer, Tendo Anika. She began to teach Kazumi about herbs and their uses as well as how to heal the residents properly. By the age of 98, Kazumi's healing skills matched Anika's, and at age 119, Kazumi's healing abilities exceeded her mentor and mother, beginning to attract the attention of the Academy. Two years later, Anika died and left Kazumi in the position of healer for the West Rukongai.
As the years passed, Kazumi found that her abilities as a healer were increasing steadily. Several visitors from the Academy came and tried to convince her to join the ranks. At the age of 138, Kazumi finally agreed to enter the Academy to become a shinigami, realizing that her skills could help so many more. She insisted on finding and training a successor prior to beginning her training. Ten years later, Kazumi entered the Academy.

Kazumi's zanpakuto is a 60 cm wakizashi. The tsuka is 15 cm and with an ivory silk tsuka-ito. The tsuba is bronze and hibiscus shaped. The saya is made from cherry and has hibiscus flowers engraved upon its length. The sageo is also made of silk and ivory in color. The weight of the zanpakuto in sheath is 1lb 12 oz.
