Personality- Ren is a very unpredictable, happy-go-lucky person. He really enjoys playing around and joking with other Shinigami and drinking sake with his friends, but he is very easily angered when another person does something he doesn't appreciate it. He is, on the other hand, completely calm in situations of battle, even during unfavorable situations. He isn't frightened by impossible odds, and is willing to charge into battle no matter the costs. He has a hard time focusing on any one thing, unless he tries to. He often trains himself only to stop in the middle and walk off to do something else, getting distracted very easily. Though he acts very silly and unruly, he is very intelligent when the situation for him to use it arises. He tries to keep away from using it, but is not always able to do so. He is also known to be a ladychaser, following nearly every woman he meets around and continuously getting denied.
Ren is also EXTREMELY claustrophobic, and deathly afraid of mice. Because of these factors, he spends most of his time outdoors with his friends indulging in sake and playing little jokes on those around him. He also likes to sit outside, especially at night, gazing at the sky. Despite his playful side, he is very reliable. His peers and friends know that if he gives his word to do something, it will assuredly be done, without a second thought. Ren is also a very jumpy person-- he is not timid or scared easily, but he likes to "have his back to the wall" to observe everything going on around him.
Physical Appearance- Ren is a very lean man standing at 5' 11" and weighing a respectable 165 pounds. He is ambidextrous in his sword wielding ability, equally training both of his arms. His hair is extremely wavy; it hangs down to his shoulders and is dark purple in color. Two locks of his hair are held in place with beads and hang down to the side of either eye. Ren is a fairly handsome man with a thin nose and thin lips. His eyes are a very light blue color, and looking into them causes them to look crystalline. He has a tattoo on the left side of his neck that is simply the letter "R." His skin is somewhat pale, even though he enjoys staying outside. He also wears long dark red sleeves down his arms and purple fingerless gloves on both hands.
Ren is very quick on his feet, but he also is excellent at keeping his footsteps silent, making him adept at sneaking up on people. He has a small cut over his right eye from running into a wall, and a huge scar across his chest from being slashed with a sword. He has a small birthmark on his collarbone shaped like a flower.
Division- 6th Division. The specialty of the 6th matches Ren's character perfectly.
Zanpaktou- The blade is 102 centimeters in length, with a hilt 17 centimeters in length. The sword is extremely light despite its size. The blade itself is crimson red in color and slightly curved. The guard is a circular shape with a silver rod though the center, and the hilt is wrapped in a royal purple linen. The sheath is light purple with a red streak down the center, and hangs at his waistline. The sheath nearly drags across the ground due to the length of the sword. Ren wields the sword using one hand; keeping his other hand available for casting Kidou spells or defense, if necessary.
Biography- Ren Ankoku was born in a small town in Japan outside of Tokyo. His parents were very poor, but very loving. He was intelligent enough, but always did poorly in school due to a lack of effort and dedication. During his teenage years he met a girl, Sandra, which he immediately fell in love with, which is uncommon for such a young age. She was from the city area, not from his area. He took his carefree attitude with him into high school, and his parent started to get worried for his future, so they tried to limit his time with Sandra in order to motivate him, but he kept sneaking into Tokyo to be with her.
One day after him and his parents had a heated argument, he snuck out of the house and headed for Tokyo, just like he usually did. They were supposed to meet up for a date, but Ren never made it. He was walking past a bank just as a robbery was taking place, and was caught in the crossfire between the police and robbers. When he finally awoke, he thought he was dreaming, until he actually discovered that he was, in fact, dead. He sat alone on the street corner for a few days thinking over all the things he wished he had done, when he heard a roar. He turned to see a large beast wearing a mask charging toward him with a bloodlust about it. He turned and started running away as fast as he could but the beast kept running towards him. He kept running, but the beast picked him up in its arm and opened its mouth to eat him, when suddenly he saw a large slash through the beast and it dissolved into thin air, and before him stood a person clad in a black kimono with a sword attached to his hip. "It'll be alright," the man said cheerfully, "Soul Society is a good place. You'll be happy there." The man touched his sword's bottom to Ren's forehead and he disappeared.
When he arrived at Soul Society, Ren was fortunate enough to end up in one of the better off districts of Rukongai, and met many friends, when suddenly one day he discovered he had a large hunger in his belly, to which his friends were amazed. "You should become a Shinigami!" They were all extremely excited for him, and he decided he would do it, vowing to return to meet them all later on.
