I had a character previously, but I'm going to go ahead and remake my shinigami (which I did not submit missions with, and whose personality I am now frustrated with), so it wouldn't matter if I use the other format.
Name: Seikouchi Fujiwara (male)
Age: 207 (see biography)
Appearance: Standing at about 1.6 meters, Seikouchi is smaller than most other shinigami, weighing about 51 kg. He is fair-faced, maintaining an expressionless demeanor while he operates. His ruffled hair, which does not reach any lower than his ear lobes, is a dark brown while his calm eyes being a complementing brown. Aside from the shihakushou uniform that is standard issue for shinigami, Seikouchi occasionally wears a beige-colored mantle on top of it, a memento of his family.
Personality: Serious in nature, Seikouchi is the kind of person who does not underestimate others. He has a lack of patience when hyperactive people blabber off, usually tell them to shut up (often in that sort of tone), or seek a quieter location, depending on the situation. The shinigami is the sort of person who only speaks on his own among those he is familiar with, which is not much in itself, due to his lack of social activity with others. Seikouchi reacts harshly to others' handling of his beige mantle, and would do what he can to bring the piece of clothing back under his possession.
He eats little, spending the majority of his free time somewhere quiet to enjoy life. No one knows what Seikouchi thinks about in those periods of time: some say that he thinks of his past, but others say that he is thinking of the future.
Biography: Born in the 22nd District of Rukongai, Seikouchi had a relatively good life, supported by his parents, but without siblings. In his younger years, he helped take care of his family, living what was considered a normal life, until he was scouted out by a shinigami, whose name that Seikouchi himself cannot recall. Ushered into Kurenai Seireitei's academy, the young spiritual being became a shinigami. His grades were not extraordinary in either direction: the shinigami remained the average student, seemingly without talent. Seikouchi did not find any friends in the academy throughout the long years of preparation. Separated from his family, Seikouchi only had a mantle as a form of remembrance, which he sometimes wore. Even after graduation and entrance to the Final Gotei 13, the young shinigami remained unconnected, living out his duty in silence.
Soon, he began conversing with other members of his division; mostly replies to queries and such. The spotlight slowly began to include the shinigami, in which he showed the amount of excellence necessary to gain a seat upon the 13th Division.
Division being applied to: 13th Division
Zanpakuto appearance: A wakizashi, Seikouchi's zanpakutou is about 55 cm long. The hilt is a black color, with a jade green grip laced around it in the traditional method of Japanese blades. The sheath that accompanies the wakizashi is equally black, tied to the shinigami's back in the typical wakizashi fashion.
Sample mission:
Alone, Seikouchi stood by a tree within one of the darker districts of Rukongai. He is of about average height for a shinigami, wearing a beige mantle over the traditional shihakushou uniform commonly worn by death gods. His zanpakutou is a wakizashi, a side arm sword, its sheath tied to Seikouchi's bodice in the manner of a wakizashi: horizontally on his back. Wakizashi are, on average, smaller than the average katana, and Seikouchi's is no exception. Seikouchi's hair is a brown color and his eyes are the color of jades: a rich green color. The tree in which he is close by is not like any tree found in a forest: it was flowing with reiatsu, a signature never-before detected until after Hueco Mundo's surprise assault on Soul Society. The officer of the 13th Division suspects that this tree has some sort of link to the success of the method of surprise utilized by the Hollows and Arrancar, no matter the probability percentage. The ancient tree in which Seikouchi has located, single-handedly, used reiatsu to activate its entrance: an entrance which delves into the depths of the unknown, to the Gotei 13, at least. He discovered this through the use of his own reiatsu to analyze the tree itself. Analyzing does not really do anything to the tree except lightly prodding its core to extract and decipher information.
Seikouchi Fujiwara, a seated officer of the 13th Division, rested his dominant right hand on the massive trunk of the tree, closing his eyes as he does so. He channeled his own reiatsu into the trunk, and, two seconds later, sharply retracted it, as though it was being burned by a hot cooking pot (although it was not painful, at all). The shinigami gritted his teeth as he took this new tidbit of information into account. It did not take long for the officer to conclude that the tree trunk uses a reiatsu code, much like the Morse Code used in the human world, but with the spiritual energy to create the ups, downs, quivers, flats, sharps, and whichever other feelings that could be created with the energy. It is, by far, much more difficult to crack than the humans and their Morse code, but Seikouchi was experienced in such code-breaking. After all, he did operate as a spy back before his rise to the twenty top officials of the 13th Division. However, Seikouchi gave a huge sigh. Code-breaking a reiatsu code is more time consuming, and more tiring, than the cracking of any other code, due to its complex nature.
Sitting down next to the tree, he placed both hands on the trunk of the tree, and went to work. There is no language to the reiatsu code - it is simply a code within a code, where the reiatsu hides a hidden meaning that is an equivalent of a code name. It is virtually impossible to discern the meaning of a reiatsu code without a key, making it much more difficult to crack. However, it is a useful utensil for captains to use in the heat of battle to coordinate their division members. The only loophole in the code is that the recipient must send a certain reiatsu answer, like that of a receipt. It takes several rounds in order to figure out the code of the "receipt," but experience told Seikouchi that the answer in the coded reiatsu is the "key" to solving the code. Hours pass, and Seikouchi felt as though he only figured out a quarter of the code before stopping due to exhaustion. On his phone, he recorded what he has figured out thus far in the reiatsu code.
He placed a hand over his zanpakutou, feeling the comfort given to him in return for the attention. A sure sign that he is increasingly becoming closer and closer to the spirit of his soul slayer. The blade has purified several Hollows in the human world, a fact that Seikouchi is somewhat proud of himself being able to do without initiating shikai, especially against some of the more powerful Hollows. Seikouchi is feeling anxious to learn more about his zanpakutou, but he knew that the time is not yet right. He knew there would be time after all of the post-mission paper work and other junk to focus on familiarizing himself with his zanpakutou.
Wiping sweat from his brow, Seikouchi grudgingly went back to work on cracking the code. When he placed his hands back onto the trunk, he heard a crackle of wood brushing against each other. Retracting his hands, an opening within the tree trunk widened, revealing a relatively large hole in the ground to mark the entrance into the dubious location within Soul Society. With all signs of exhaustion forgotten (for the time being, anyways), the officer got to his feet, re-programming his cell phone so that it would send an attention message on a certain Gotei 13 frequency that is basically for idle shinigami: whomever wants to come along can do so.
Attention: Eighteenth seated officer Seikouchi Fujiwara, of the 13th Division, has located an unidentified entrance within the 66th District of Rukongai. Solo investigation currently in progress. Fujiwara out.
With that, Seikouchi closed his phone, storing it within his shihakushou uniform. He did a quick body stretch, bending his back, craning and massaging his neck, and warming his wrists. After making sure that his zanpakutou is secure in its sheath, the 13th Division member approached the trunk of the ancient tree, peering into the darkness. It probably was not the best idea to go in alone, but he supposed experience in espionage would be enough to guarantee survival. Like any other mission like this was safer, he thought to himself.
Before further action could be taken, his cell phone rang. Confused, Seikouchi pulled it out, and stared at the display. The caller ID function was not picking up anything, not even a division number. That's weird. Deciding to ignore the ringing, Seikouchi stuffed his phone back into his shihakushou. Taking a deep breath, Seikouchi leaped down into the unknown depths, to uncover the secrets of this underground location.
