Biography: He remembers little of his past life only that his death was and accident and that in life he was a sloth and he is ever reminded of this every day by the tattoo he has on his chest. He is from the 53rd district of the Rukongai.
The people of district 53 see Ross as an outcast, as when he was young he was dispelled from a minor noble family for neglecting his duties. This lead to him living on the streets and fighting to earn a living, this went on for many years and Ross became an able fighter. After witnessing a fatal stabbing he swore to live a better life.
Years later the district was still full of bloodthirsty ruffians trying to look tough, with Ross trying to reason with them, but each time they reacted with violence. Ross knew that his fate wasn’t as bad as the people from the other districts, as the other districts of the Rukongai were meaner than this so he could accept his frequent beatings.
Yet he had not completely forgot the pain they had caused him, he would try and dismiss his rage, but in the end he ended up suppressing it and one day he awoke hungry and knew that he would now have to try and get food to survive, with no job and his little ever growing reistu he had no idea what to do. Later that day Ross saw a shinigami patrolling the district and was offered a place in the academy, Ross now knew he could fight for good cause.
Division being applied to: 12th (Cyclonus_Zaero hope your happy)
Zanpakuto appearance: Ross’s Zanpakuto is a standard katana with a blade length of 29 inches and an 11 inch hilt. The blade it self has never been cleaned (Due to his laziness) so it is stained and worn down. Both sheathe and the hilt are well preserved and have a basic black colouring . He keeps his Zanpakuto in his belt on the right-hand side as he wields his sword left-handed.
He prefers to fight using Hand-to-Hand combat only using his Zanpakuto in situations which he thinks are life threatening, Ross never uses kidou, but knows that it can be lethal, and to always be ready if an opponent should use it. When using a Zanpakuto Ross still fights using a combination of slashes and kicks so he can keep up a relentless attack, he then waits to see a weakness and then take advantage.
Sample mission:
“Ross wake up in there god damn it!” screamed the instructor.
So there he was lying in bed late for training yet again, without a care in the world, so he reluctantly climbs out of bed and opens his door to a very upset instructor.
“This is the last time I’m standing for this Ross you hear me, we can kick you out of this academy you know?”
“I know but why kick me out due to my laziness you always shout at other student for behaving rashly and yet you shout at me for taking my time and analysing the situation, so what is it today kido training or sparing?” said the young shinigami with a smile on his face.
“No actually your of to the real world for training, again, I know how you love to spend all that time running around,” said the instructor thinking he had won the conversation.
So yet again Ross picks up his Zanpakuto and sets off to meet up with the rest of the team, wondering if the instructor will ever realize that he enjoys these training missions and that there hardly a punishment at all. He already knew the routine it was simply wait for hell butterfly, go through the gate, rendezvous at the set location, run around after some pre-released Hollows and kill them, then come back. It was a pretty good day in Ross’s eyes, but he isn’t stupid he always knew something could go wrong.
“Right team some of you are new to this so I’ll go over the basics of the mission but we are also graced with the presence of Ross, a veteran of sorts, who always seems keen on joining these mission,” the old man now dropped his dislike for Ross and sounded professional for once.
As the instructor went on about procedure and what to do in an emergency, Ross was thinking if they would be sent to the same gritty industrial park that he liked so much. He liked this place for one reason he had fount a way onto the tallest building in the area, so he could sit back and watch the madness unfold and not be noticed, of course this also meant slipping away from his group without them noticing.
“Hey and Ross no sneaking away this time, border patrol saw you lying around on that roof top last time, you should get the word lazy tattooed on your forehead let everyone know what you are,” the instructor chuckled.
“No need I already have the word sloth tattooed on my chest, but I’ll keep that in mind next time I go for a tattoo.” Ross laughed but a silence fell on the room.
The instructor said his final words to the group and then waited for the senkaimon and the hell butterfly’s to arrive, tension was building on some of the newer members of the Daikokubashira Academy, but Ross had already done this three times before. The gate opens into a familiar scene, with the run down buildings and the grey sky, not the best first impression of the human world in Ross’s opinion but hey at least here he can get some action, if he felt like it.
“Right, team split into four groups of three and Ross since you know this place pretty well and never stick with your team, your on your own. No one to save your lazy ass this time,” the busy teacher left to check the perimeter and make sure all was to plan.
With this new information Ross couldn’t help shake the words of his instructor, he felt unease as now he was truly on his own. Still Ross set out to find a nice place to rest, looking at the rooftops and the warehouses to find a good spot; He could feel the reistu of his fellow Shinigami rising they would now taste there first true battle.
Ross fount a small warehouse at the edge of the mission area, he decided on this to be his resting place, so he climbed in a broken window and made a chair from some old boxes and began to drift off. Immediately he felt a disturbance he could see a small hollow in front of him walking closer, but in a slow menacing way. So Ross stood up already knowing this opponent was weak, but then there was a mighty crash, a hollow broke through the wall behind Ross knocking his Zanpakuto out of his hand and Ross to the floor.
Ross on the fringes of unconsciousness stood up know pretty upset.
“One of you I can deal with, but two of you and attacking from behind that’s just not fair!” Shouted Ross as the small red glow of his reistu formed around his body.
Ross already injured and his Zanpakuto on the other side of the warehouse, he was already accepting his fate. The larger hollow, which had attacked him from behind, had already raised his fist and was ready to attack, but Ross had a thought (I could fight with my fist’s, but I have only ever read about focusing your reistu this way, but hey this is the perfect time to learn in the middle of combat, against two opponents. Looks like luck isn’t on my side today.)
So as the hollow’s fist began to drop Ross turned and focused his reistu into his fist’s and raised his left hand to block, He was amazed he stopped the hollow in it tracks, but he knew he could only do this a few more times. Then the hollows began to get unhappy, they both attacked this time, Ross swung wildly for the little hollow causing its death, but once again this tremendous force hit him. He tried so hard to try and cancel out the attack with his reistu, but he only managed to weaken its blow. Ross was still standing, but he could feel his shoulder’s fracture from the force, his only chance now was to run for his life.
The hollow attacked again but Ross saw it coming he braced him self for the attack, but before the blow hit the instructor drew his Zanpakuto and blocked the attack.
“Wow you survived three of these I’m impressed, but you still seem pretty beat up," the instructor now speaking to Ross as an equal for the first time.
“Don’t sweat it, this means I get to sleep all day in the company of the fourth division, I think its worth it,” the student speaking to the master as a friend for the first time.
“Come on lets finish up here and get you back home before you pass out and I have to carry you back, don’t want to look bad in front of the other students do we Ross”
“Ross?”
“Great I have to do everything around here.”
