Name: Owan Azami

Gender: Female

Age: Azami was born in Soul Society. She is now about 58 years old but has kept the looks of a fifteen year old.

Biography: An unwanted daughter who should have died thirty years ago.

Born to a family of spies and assassins, Azami was the daughter viewed only as a burden. She was often neglected and learned to keep to herself instead of seeking other people’s company. When she was about twenty five, her parents arranged a marriage for her, but Azami’s fiercely independent personality was looked down on by her fiancé and the betrothal ended in disaster. From that day, her parents only saw her as a useless daughter that would be of no use to them, so secretly they plotted against her. Her two twin brothers were older than her and hated Azami’s spirit as well. She saw them only as spoiled children. There was no sibling affection between them.

After the betrothal failed, Azami’s parents made it clear that they expected her to become their housekeeper and maid. When she told them that she had no desire to become their servant, her mother slapped her, ending the little mother and daughter relationship they had between them. Azami swore that she would never again bow down obediently to something she disagreed with.

At the age of thirty-seven, she made a bold move and took on the code name Azami, thus rebelling against her parents the life her parents expected her to lead. When she was fourty-five, she was sent on her first—and last solo mission. While tracking down a member from a rival clan, Azami’s parents and her two brothers attacked her from behind and left her bloody body outside the gates of Seireitei. There, a high ranking shinigami adopted her and took her to his home to heal and encouraged her to join the Academy. She agreed and trained to become a shinigami, but before she graduated, her guardian’s family was wiped out by her clan. Azami has vowed that she will teach her heartless family a lesson.

{{Note: Azami is a Japanese name meaning ‘Thistle,’ which symbolizes independence and defiance.}}

Appearances: A delicate and lovely porcelain doll, she meets your stare with an icy gaze. Will you be able to look away?
Azami resembles a china doll in more ways than one, with her dark hair and eyelashes, her piercing blue eyes and pale skin. When you first look at her, the two things that are particularly striking are her bonelike frame and her icy blue eyes. Azami has a small, delicate body, as she is only 60 in. (about 152 cm.) and weighs in at a breezy 85 lb. (about 38.5 kg), as is expected for spies and assassins. She is not particularly strong but she is speedy, which compensates for her lack of strength.

Azami has medium-long hair often worn in a high ponytail or in a bun. She has a scar in the shape of an ‘X’ on her chest where her brothers tried to stab her and two more on her back. Her face is heart-shaped with a narrow chin and medium cheekbones. Her fingers are thin and crafty, and her arms and legs are long and skinny, just like the rest of her body. Azami dislikes the standard Shinigami shihakusho and modified it into a skin-tight version. She wears a silver choker with a sapphire teardrop shaped pendant around her neck and two silver bracelets on each arm. She has also adopted a thin powder-blue sash in place of the standard one.

Personality: Beautiful, poised, and cold, with a deep scar on her heart.

Azami gives the impression of being extremely mature and serious. In conversations, Azami often impresses with her witty comebacks and thoughtful comments. She has a clever mind and a sarcastic tongue to match. She often has a both sharp and intense aura, for she keeps track of what always goes on; her former training has carried on into her life as a student. Despite her reserved personality, she is fiercely independent and does not care what others think about her. After her arranged marriage in the past, she will not hesitate to stand up for what she believes in. Azami has no problem making friends, for she is an excellent actress and easily charms those around her by telling them what they want to hear. Although she has many friends, she holds them all at a distance for she has difficulty trusting anyone after her bloody past. However, if her friends are in danger, Azami will fight for them because she knows that they would likely do the same for her. Whereas Azami’s love for others is weak, her loyalty to others is strong.

Azami enjoys playing sports of nearly every kind, for she is very much a tomboy. She is easily irritated by the sheer stupidity of some people and hates waiting. However, her serene face will not betray any of her emotions, for she is an expert and keeping her emotions bottled up. Azami has two distinct sides to her personality—her mature side and her childish side. She can easily tell how a person feels and is careful to avoid touchy subjects if she is talking to someone who is sad or angry. She is charismatic and can often cheer people up when they are depressed. However, Azami is also very childish for she enjoys taking afternoon naps and eating sugary sweets. As she grows older, she is less and less childish for she begins to realize what it means to be alone in the world.

Division applying to: The 8th division.

Zanpakuto Appearance:
Azami’s zanpakuto resembles either a short katana or a long dagger, with a total length of 60 cm.—the blade alone is 45 cm. The tsuba is in the shape of a crescent moon, her family’s crest. Her tsuka is a silvery-blue color which matches her sash. A thin silver ribbon about 25 cm. long hangs from the end. The ribbon has a design of swirls woven into it. The pattern is copied onto the blade of the zanpakuto. The blade also has a teardrop close to the point of the sword.

Azami usually wears her zanpakuto horizontally on her lower back. She sometimes wears her zanpakuto on her wrist, using the ribbon as a handle. She dislikes using her zanpakuto to fight as it draws blood, but will use it if she is determined to win (or if she’s desperate). Her zanjutsu skills are merely mediocre, as she does not have the necessary strength needed to wield a zanpakuto. However, she is quick when fighting and easily tires out her opponents. When she does draw her blade, she wields it with one hand.

Sample Mission:

Some people get in trouble for fighting, Owan Azami realized as she stood in a crowd of fifth years. I get in trouble for not fighting.

“Alrighty, fifth years,” a senior called to them. “My name is Kugai Matari and I’m the leader of this mission. Today we’ll be heading out to the real world and fighting fake hollows. Now, we seniors will be posted at strategic locations in case some of y’all get hurt, but we will not assist you in the mission whatsoever. Holy crap, Owan-san! What are you doing here?”

Azami could feel herself glaring daggers at the tall senior as the sophomore students were all turning around to stare at her. “I got in trouble,” she said in a light voice. “No need to worry about it.”

“Okay then. Are you ready, sophomores? Okay then, Taihan Shaobi, another one of the leaders of this mission, will lead you to the senkai gate. Owan Azami, I need to talk with you.”

“As expected,” she replied, sighing as Matari appeared by her side.

“So, what did you get in trouble for?” Matari asked curiously. She and Azami were good friends ever since they discovered that they both enjoyed playing sports.

“Toya-sensei told us to spar with our zanpakutos, but I told him I didn’t want to do it,” Azami told her friend. “So he sent me up to the headmaster’s office and as punishment I have to join the fifth years for hollow fighting and help you guys with... whatever it is that you do. I have to kill the number of required hollows and make sure all the snotty little brats’ noses are wiped.”

Matari pushed her short brown bangs out of her eyes. “Ha, you’re funny. Well, the sophomores are required to kill at least three hollows. I think you can handle that, can’t you? And really all we do is make sure none of the fifth years are killed. That should be easy enough. And if you want to ‘wipe their noses,’ go ahead.”

Azami nodded wordlessly. “You’re right, that should be fairly easy.”

“I should hope so!” Matari laughed.

“Do I have to use my zanpakuto?” Azami added almost as an afterthought.

The senior shrugged. “Well, all we’re fighting today are fake hollows, so I don’t think you’ll need to fight with your zanpakuto. But if real hollows show up, than yeah, you’re gonna have to use your zanpakuto.”

With one last nod, Azami hurried to catch up with the group as they were leaving. Hopefully no real hollows will show up, she thought.

As the group left the senkai gate, Azami took a good look around her. “It’s been so long since I’ve been to the world of the living,” she told Matari, who was standing behind her. “I’ve almost missed it.”

The tall brunette clenched her jaw. “Owan, I need you to keep an eye on everything for me,” she said in a low voice. “Last time, things got way out of hand, and hollows killed three students. I don’t want anyone killed while I’m leading the mission. Can you help me with that?”

“Sure,” Azami replied. “You can count on my help.”

Matari gave her a quick smile and left to find the other seniors. “Thanks.”

Azami took a deep breath and her hands automatically went to straighter her choker. She saw two fake hollows approach her and finished them with two quick roundhouse kicks. After finishing the fake hollows, she turned around and came face to face with a real hollow with a bone shaped face and a vermiculated body.

“Sophomores!” she shouted as she saw several reckless boys approach it. “Get away from the hollow!” She grabbed her zanpakuto’s hilt and pulled it out of the sheath in one clean movement. “Matari! Hollows!” Another hollow appeared out of nowhere behind her, chewing a body. From the heart shaped hilt of the sword, Azami knew that the hollow had killed Matari.

“Fifth years! Get back to the academy and call for backup!” she screamed. After she was sure that the sophomores obeyed her, she jumped into the air and aimed her blade at the hollow’s head.

“Tch, missed,” Azami spat. Instead of killing the hollow as she had hoped, all she had done was cut the arm slightly. She saw the blood splattering the ground and stifled a cry. Don’t quit, she told herself. Do it for Matari.

She stiffened as she looked at her friend’s lifeless body. “I will avenge you,” she vowed, gripping the hilt of her zanpakuto harder. Azami turned towards a hollow that had a circular head with horns—the one that had ate Matari. “You’re first.”

Azami ran towards the hollow with her blade drawn, determined to kill it. She jumped in the air again, but her blade was too short to reach the hollow’s head. As she landed, she realized that her arm was bleeding, for the hollow had grabbed her and cut her with its long nails.

“Disgusting,” she hissed as she touched her wound. Her zanpakuto was bloody as well. Azami stared at her weapon and realized that she would never be able to win because her sword was too short. She looked towards Matari’s corpse again.

“I’m sorry, Matari-san.” Azami picked up Matari’s zanpakuto, which was much longer than her own. “Please forgive me.”

The girl gripped her dead friend’s sword and sheathed her own. Using a longer weapon, she had managed to pierce the hollow’s mask, but it was still alive.

“Doesn’t this thing know how to die?” Azami sighed and dropped to her knees, too weak to continue fighting. On her last attempt to kill the hollow, its fingers pierced her stomach and she was bleeding through her red and white uniform.

She looked around. The number of the hollows had grown from three or four to about twenty. Azami saw the other seniors fighting—and struggling to defeat them. There were at least five dead.

At this rate, we’re probably all going to die, Azami thought.

“Slither, Shirohebi!” she heard behind her. Suddenly, silver ropes shot out of nowhere and strangled nearly all of the hollows.

Azami turned around slowly. “Y-you!”

Hello there HaiLun, I am going to be honest with you, I personally cannot find anything wrong with your app. I will have to ask another mod to take a look, as I don’t know what to do, even in my time as an Application Mod I have never seen anything this good.

So well basically good luck, I have already requested for the other Mods to look at your application, please be patient and thank you.

I only have one thing to say in criticism of the application: instead of using numbers like "3" you should spell out the word or words like "three" or "twenty-three." It gives the writing a more professional undertone and also causes the writing to sound more fluent. Otherwise, superb application. You are free to submit a final application whenever you would like.

All right, thanks for the criticism and I'll be sure to remember to type the numbers out. I fixed everything and I'll be submitting the final application. Thank you, blankdoor-sama and Magical Bells-sama! Your words have made my day :)
