Name:
Naichingeru Kuroise

Gender:
Female.

Age:
Real World Death- 24
Soul Society Age- 44

Appearance:
Naichingeru is about 170cm (5’7”). She is of a medium build and curvy, but solemn. Her hair, when let down is a bright blonde color that reaches to the small of her back, however it is only worn down when in the privacy of her quarters. At all other times her hair is bound on her head and two chopsticks hold it in place. Her eyes are a solemn blue grey and she is rarely seen giving a full smile, though a small quirk of her lips is seen from time to time. She prefers a standard uniform, the only adjustment she makes is a splash of color in a deep purple scarf tied around her waist.

Personality:
A quiet and stoic person, Naichingeru is often unnoticed and left to her own devices. Never the “life of the party”, she is content to sit and do work while others take the credit. Just knowing she is able to help others achieve their goals is enough of a reward for her. She loves children and her desire to help others can be a downfall. She is compassionate to a fault. Once you become her friend she will defend you with her life. And this is a perfect example of her stubbornness. Naichingeru hates to be wrong and will rarely accept defeat from someone she considers her equal without hard facts. Even then she has been known to argue against them. She adores being involved in research and creation processes, happy to spend hours upon hours huddled in the library pouring over books.

Biography:
Upon her death in the real world, Naichingeru found herself in the 28th district of the Rukongai. She was a sad sight and a kindly older woman took pity on her when she was found lying in the street and ordered some younger men to carry the unconscious woman to her home. Awakening to the delicious smells of stone soup, Naichingeru discovered she was ravenously hungry and as she virtually inhaled what the woman had to give her she didn’t notice the watchful gaze of her companion. Tragically, the cause of her death had slaughtered her hair, and in order to have it all one length it had to be cut near to her scalp. In horror she did not leave the home of the old woman except to do chores around the house and on a venture to a nearby well to get water came upon a small child laying in the dirt near the well. Overcome with compassion, she quickly filled the pail and then carried both the pail and child back to the house where she cared for the small girl until she returned to consciousness. This was the start of many years of fostering small children in their district. When her hair had grown back out and she appeared to have gained some confidence, the old woman one day suggested she consider entering the Daikokubashira Academy. They needed a steady income to help care for the number of children that Naichingeru was supporting and she could see that Nai had potential as a shinigami.

3rd Division

Zanpakuto appearance:

Naichingeru’s zanpakuto is a small dagger 19 inches total in length. The blade is double edged and 14 inches in length. The handle is a deep blue with a single koi appearing as though it is tatooed in place. The quillon is silver, molded into waves. The sheath is an intricate dance of koi and waves with the occasional lilly pad littered across.

Sample mission:
Naichingeru smiled at the children as she closed the door of the decidedly too small hut.

Eight children now...

She pauses her thoughts as she steps over wooden toys and bends down to check a scrape.

“Neh Daisuke... you need to be more careful. One of these days you’ll trip and break something. Where would we be if suddenly we had no one to tend the garden?”

She ruffles the young boys hair and finishes tying off the bandage giving him a small smile as he bows to thank her and turns, silently returning to a barely seeable garden off the corner of the house

And so many need so much special care... Daisuke is a perfect example. He’s been here how long now? Four... no five years and still not a word from him.

Sighing, Nai stands and once more takes hold of her bucket making her way to the well to pull up the evenings supply of water. She gave a rarely seen smile as she felt the breeze travel across her face soothing her soul. The children and Kameyo were her life, she would do anything to care for them, and in turn they filled her days with happiness.

Lowering the bucket into the well she thought back on all that had happened over the years since Kameyo had taken her in, only startled out of her thoughts by a loud cry. She abandoned the bucket to begin searching for the source of the cry, a cry she recognized instantly as belonging to a small child. The forests edge was located quite near the well, and as the child was not easily visible within the clearing between the well and the forest, Nai rushed inside. The forest was hardly a place for an adult, much less a child of the age she was hearing.

Where are you... where are you... where are you...

Her mind chanted the frantic mantra as she sought the source of the crying. It’s hysterical peals tugging at her heart causing tears of frustration to well up in her eyes.

She burst into a small clearing, in the back of her mind she registered it as a natural plum tree orchard, and knew she was close. Somewhere in the clearing was the child; small, frightened, and obviously hiding as she should have been able to see it easily. Scanning the area with eyes trained to find children wanting to avoid being captured during games of hide n’ seek or chore times she caught sight of a burrow beneath the trunk of a plum tree. Slowly she walked forward and in a soothing tone of voice tried to calm the child. A chill had begun traveling up and down her spine and she had learned long ago to trust her instincts. Something bad was coming.

“Come little one, it’s alright. Shhhh, shhhhhh... It’s okay, I’m going to take you home. We’ll feed you, clean you up....”

Nai, knelt at the base of the tree and moved aside the brush poorly concealing the burrow. In horror she cried out herself. Inside was a child of barely 2 years, scratched and bleeding and on the verge of fainting. She stretched out her hands and gently grasped the tiny body. Pulling it from its hidey hole, she cradled the small child to her chest and made to stand when a gravelly and terrifying voice froze her movements.

“Kehehehe, thank you for finding my dinner. Though with you here, she is much more a dessert...”

Legs trembling and clutching the child even closer to herself, Nai turned, determined to face her death head on. She saw nothing.

“Where are you, coward. I know better than to run but you should at least have the courtesy of allowing your victim to see your face.”

She could hear her voice trembling, but lifted her chin displaying the stubborn nature that had helped raise 8 children and the woman who had cared for her on a limited income while still providing them with a childhood and home. She was not prepare for the loud roar that burst from the trees, nor the pressure that forced her, fighting, to her knees. Thundering footsteps brought a figure from the forest and Nai shook, unable to lift her head and see who was approaching.

“So, what’s this... Don’t want to see me anymore? Well that’s just as well, I prefer my meals submit.”

A terrifying and gleeful cackle erupted from the figure towering above her.

I have to move... I have to move... I can’t die... not here, not like this... not now... the children... Kameyo... they need me...

Struggling mentally and trying to struggle physically, Nai missed the appearance of another person in the clearing, only made aware of his presence when a blue ball of light flew through her vision. The pressure forcing her head down let up for one second as the hollow, surprised, focused his attention on the intruder and her head snapped up and in the direction of the newcomer.

“Chea... what kind of hollow are you... taking a defenseless woman and her child. This is why it’s my job to get rid of you.”

A man stepped into the clearing between Nai and the hollow and flashed her a grin as he bent to help her stand. Hesitantly, she placed her hand in the one he extended and moved to thank him when his other hand on her shoulder stopped her.

“You’d best just leave. I’m sure I’ll see you around some time.”

Nai nodded and turned, running out of the clearing when the hollow let loose another roar and once again blasted the area with that strange suffocating pressure. Knocked off her feet, and trying to protect the baby, she turned her body as she fell, hitting her head against a tree. Struggling to maintain consciousness as the man and hollow fought, she breathed a sigh of relief when finally the hollow was defeated and the pressure surrounding her dissipated. She tried once again to rise to her feet when the man sheathed his katana and made his way to her side. He knelt next to her and checked her over quickly.

“I can see you’re one worth watching.” He said with a small smile as he pulled her and the small child she had taken such care to protect into his arms and stood.
