Name: James Thatcher

Age at death: 18

Age in Hueco Mundo: 50

Personality: James’s personality is very calm and reserved. He doesn’t like to rush into making any decisions and prefers to think things out. Because of this James can tend to be somewhat indecisive, but if he has to he will act swiftly(compared to his normal pace). On a normal day, James would be perfectly content to just relax and do nothing, but this is not always the case. James also usually has a serious demeanor, but he still has a somewhat sarcastic sense of humor. Sometimes though James can explode with energy, and be very talkative and adventurous, far from his usual quiet self. As for things that make James angry, there is really not much, he usually has complete control of his anger levels. The only way to crack James’s calm demeanor would be to attack him or a friend (obviously), or to insult him.

Physical Appearance: James looks basically like a giant flower that is sentient and 30ft high. At his base, James has a powerful root system that, when necessary, he can use to walk and move himself with. The stem is 5ft in diameter and is made of strong, dark green fibers. There are also many large branches that cover the stem. Colorful leaves that are a pale green dot the branches, along with a few flowers that resemble daisies. Towards the end of each of the branches, they taper off into vines that dangle downward. James can manipulate these vines to wrap around his attackers with the speed of a viper strike. At the top is a massive daisy flower that’s 15ft across. His hollow hole is just under the massive flower, and his mask is also hidden inside the flower. In a fight, James would use his size as his advantage, and overwhelm his opponents. He would also support his allies using his various abilities.

Biography: It was a brilliant summer day in James Thatcher’s small home town. The towns name was Clear Spring, with only a few thousand people living there. Most of the people knew everyone else, and every Sunday the residents would invite their friends over for dinner. Clear Spring was located in a temperate climate, surrounded by a forest (referred to as simply “The forest”), and a river called the crystal waterway. In all of this James was just a normal 18 year old who loved nature. He would spend most of his time exploring “the forest” or the wandering down the crystal waterway. But today was a perfect Saturday afternoon, and James put on some blue jeans and a green t-shirt and set out from his family’s house on the east end of town towards the crystal waterway.
James was walking down a sidewalk through town on his way to the river. He passed houses with kids playing in the yards, old folks sitting in chairs on the front porch, or people just relaxing in their homes.

“What a perfect day” James sighed as walked, thoroughly enjoying his day. James had just crossed a street when farther ahead a voice called

“James! What’s up?”

Looking ahead, James could see that it was his close friend Ben Williams. James waved and Ben ran over to him. Ben was wearing brown shorts and a red shirt, and his shaggy long black hair hung down to his shoulders.

“You know you really should get that hair of yours cut soon” James mock scolded.

“Oh never mind that now, I have something important to tell you!” Ben blurted out with an excited look on his face. Reaching into his pocket, Ben pulled out something that glittered with a golden light.

Looking at it, James eyes widened in shock. “Is that what I think it is?” James said in a shaky voice.

“It sure is” Ben replied with a look of triumph. In his hand, Ben held a lump of gold the size of a chicken’s egg. “And there is more too”

James finally pulled his eyes from the gold to say “Really? Where?”

“About 4 miles up from our usual fishing spot on the river. I haven’t told anyone else, so only you and me know. Now follow me!” With that both Ben and James rushed off the find more of the gold.

“Here is our destination” Ben said with a huff. The destination was in fact an abandoned mine at the base of a small cliff. This part of the river was thickly forested, and the cliff was almost invisible from the air.

“It’s just over there where I found the gold” Ben said, pointing at the mine entrance.

“I don’t know about this Ben, I mean abandoned mine are usually abandoned for a reason” James remarked uneasily.

“Oh come on, James, if we find even a few more of these gold chunks we could have tons of money”

“Fine, but we are NOT going into that mine””

“Fine, now let’s go already”

Both James and Ben then went about looking for more gold around the mine site. They were searching for about an hour and had found another two pieces of gold the same size as the first one. Ten minuets later James walked nearer to the mine entrance, he caught a sent of something that made him freeze.

“Ben, I can smell methane coming from the mine, lets get out of here” James said with worry in his voice.

“Yah that would be a good idea. Now lets… Ben was saying but was interrupted by a kid yelling

“I got you now!”

Both James and Ben looked a little ways down the river to see Ben’s little 7 year old brother Jake, aiming a bottle rocket firework at them. It was only five days from the forth of July, and Ben’s brother was so excited. When he saw them run off, Jake thought that he would follow them and surprise them with a bottle rocket flying at them. Jake could see them with the surprise on their faces, and with a little giggle he launched the firework at them. Looking up, Jake was confused to see their looks of surprise turn to one of a twisted horror. A second later he found out why.

James looked on as the bottle rocket zoomed past them and into the mine entrance. Time seemed to slow down, and James inhaled, and the mine exploded. The mine complex was filled with the volatile gas, and the whole thing blew up like a volcano and sent the entire cliff down on them.

James didn’t even have time to put his hands up before his whole body was scorched. A rock the size of a TV flew out and hit James in the chest, crushing his rib-cage and sending him flying 30ft away. James was dead half way through his flight.

It had been 3 days since his death, but for some reason James found himself still there. He had woken up to find a strange chain had been attached to his chest, and no matter how hard he pulled it wouldn’t budge. He had tried to look for his friends, but the chain was too short and attached to the site of his dead body. The hardest part however was when police and his family came to the mine. James had screamed at them, begging them to hear him, but they didn’t. Now he was alone again, sitting but the rivers edge, staring off into nothing. James sat like that for hours before he brought him self to stand.

“I… I don’t want to be alone… I don’t want to be dead” James mumbled to himself.

Then he began to cry, his tears falling down like a sad river. But looking over he saw something that made him calm. He saw a group of daisies growing along the waters edge.

“You guys never stay sad, you’re happy for each and every day the sun comes out.” James told the flowers. “I wish I was like you”

Later that night, James woke up, saying “My chest… why does it hurt so much?”
