Forever changed (based on the Twilight Saga)

*Bart shut his door after he had finished packing, everything he had brought with him was in his car, he locked the door and placed the note on it, he sighed as he looked to the house one more time as he pulled away, his newest job taking him to parts unknown.

The note read.

To whom it may concern My name is Bart Garner, a defense contractor with international interests, I have left this house in the care of a friend, I wish all who knew me here good luck, may your cups and bellies be ever full.

Miracle sighed. "Thanks guys, I'm sorry I'm like this... I should take better care of myself." She chuckled.(I seriously forgot what color I use for her font XD)

Renji chuckled. "No, we'll hunt our own. It will be interesting. I've always wanted to watch a Vampire hunt." He smiled. "Will help to learn how to defend myself should I ever find myself a target. And it will benefit the pack as well." He smiled. "More importantly though, It shows a bond of trust between hunters. You and Us." He stood up. "Any good hunting grounds around here? I haven't hunted in a while."

OOC: I'm back everyone, sorry it has been so long...I caught myself up and now that my life is in better order, I'll have a more consistent schedule, so I'll be able to post more frequently again

Sasha ran through the forest in wolf form, not caring where she was going, just attempting to get away from everything she was feeling. She ran as fast as she could, to a familiar cliff where she had howled her emotions at the top of her lungs once before. It was here where she stopped again to howl her anguish at her lot once again.

Then let's get this over with.

As her master said the words, she breathed out the breath she didn't know she had been holding. It came out as a sigh of both relief and apprehension. Shane squeezed her hand and she squeezed back gently with shaking hands. Her master cleared his voice and took a deep breath before continuing. He faced the three before him each in turn, measuring their readiness for what he had to say. In the end, ready or not, they had to hear it. So he readied himself, and he began.

What I have to tell you involves both of you. Well, I suppose now it involves all three of you. As you know, you both have connections to the Crimson Paws. But neither of you know fully who they really are or what they stand for. But you should know they are the cause of the deaths of both of your families.

At this, both girls flinched and started to ask the questions that now burned in their minds, but their master held up a hand to silence both of them.

I am not finished, all will be answered in time. Be patient, girls.

He cleared his throat again and took a steadying breath, then he continued.

The Crimson Paws, to be concise, are an elite group of Shifters in connection to both of your families. Actually, to be totally accurate, you are both distantly related to them. Your families are closely related to this group, however it is consisted of only Shifters, and the gene had been scarce in the time before both of your tragedies due to a lack of stimulation, namely a lack of threats. Normally, this would be considered a good thing, however, the lack of stimulant for the gene lasted so long that the Crimson Paws' ranks began to thin, and for fear of losing the group and it's history, they decided that action needed to be taken. Shique, your parents were members of the group and related to a long line of other members, and so were of the few included in this decision, though you did not know of it.

Shique regained her voice first, while Sasha sat in frozen silence, processing the information they were being given.

But master, I didn't even know my parents were Shifters, how is that possible?

It is possible, child, that they were out of active duty for many years during your birth and infancy, and then brought back in in a time of crisis.

Master, what kind of action did they decide needed to be taken?

He sighed. Sasha had found her voice, and as usual she had asked the right question. And also the hardest. He looked at her.

They convened, and decided that in the absence of a natural threat, in order to protect their order, they needed to create one.

He waited for his words to sink in, and he saw in Sasha's eyes that she knew what he was going to say before he said it, but that she was desperately hoping he wouldn't. Even as he began to speak, she was shaking her head in an attempt to fight the absolution of what she knew he was about to say. But he had to say it anyway.

They decided that they needed to force the gene to surface, and so they chose a viable candidate for the gene, someone who had the gene dormant inside them already, and who would be an ideal individual to help them fill their ranks and bring the order into the future and help them thrive. They chose you for your family's long history of strong Shifters, and in the dead of night, with heavy hearts, they attacked your family in an attempt to reawaken your gene in what it would perceive as a threat to it's livelihood. But they didn't expect you to fight back, and they had not planned on such casualties...on both sides. That is how your family met their unfortunate death. I am sorry my child...Truly. They did what they thought was their only choice.

Sasha was shaking her head and trembling, unable to process what she was hearing. She stood and spoke, trying to distract herself more than anything.

But I don't understand...why me? Why MY family? WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DIE? Who has the right to make these decisions???

She was becoming more and more distraught as she spoke, but he responded in a calm voice, in what he hoped would reassure her. He also hoped it would temper her response to what he was about to say. That final piece to the tragic puzzle.

As I said, my dear, your family had a long line of strong Shifters. This is because a member of your family was traditionally the leader of the group since its beginning. The Alpha. You have not only the Shifter gene on you, but also the Alpha gene. You must have felt it inside you, although you didn't comprehend what it was, not fully. But in a crisis, you would have found the strength within you to start a pack of your own and lead them to a fortuitous future. That was what the Crimson Paws hoped, anyway.

Sasha stared.

What are you talking about? Has your age affected your brain? If the leader was always from my family, then it would have been a member of my family who led the attack! That doesn't make sense! Neither of my parents were Shifters! It's strange that even I had the gene!

He sighed again, this time a sigh of resignation. Once again, she got right to the right question. Apparently all was fated to be revealed this night, even that which he deeply wished he could keep from her. But he guessed she needed to know, regardless of how much it would hurt her. He just desperately hoped she could learn to accept it and not be destroyed but what he was about to say. He took a deep breath and looked at her, his eyes meeting hers, alight with green fire as they were when they had first met all those years ago.

My precious child, the leader of the Crimson Paws during that time, and now, if they still remain, was...your grandfather. You never met him, but he always knew you had the gene necessary to succeed him. And he believed with all his heart in that moment, that he needed you to rebuild the order...and to follow after him as the new leader of the order.

There was a long pause, and the tension i the air was palpable as everyone seemed to hold their breath. Then suddenly a cry full of agony suprised them all as it rang out into the night. It was Sasha's cry.

NOOOOO!!!!

There were tears freely flowing from her eyes as she ran from them off into the woods. Shique and Shane stood, possibly with minds to follow her, but he cleared his throat and stood wearily.

I cannot stop either of you from following her, but I think it would be wise to give her some time to accept everything that she has learned tonight. It was a lot to swallow, and she may need a day or two alone to think.

He turned to Shane and took a breath.

You probably know that I don't take well to non-Shifters, based on my own interactions with humans and vampires, especially. But I can see that you are different: a warrior. You have a strength about you that I cannot define or understand, that I have only seen in Sasha, and in any case, you are her Imprint. So I apologize for any insults I have caused you during the past month, although it may be too late for you to accept. I now consider you a member of our little family, and you are welcome in my house, if you should so choose. Sasha is like a daughter to me, and I was merely trying to protect her. Again, I apologize for my behavior this past month. I hope you will forgive an old man his vices and decide to stay here with us while we await Sasha's return. But again, I cannot stop you from following her, if that is what you wish. With that, he returned inside, where he leaned heavily against the wall and held his head, hating that he had to cause his Sasha so much pain...it had been the single hardest thing he had ever done, and he wished there had been a way to avoid it all.

A moment later, Shique also went inside, after a glance towards Shane, as she wondered whether he planned to follow her or not. Once inside, she found her master cleaning up dinner, and she moved to help him. After a moment of silence, she spoke with a slightly shaky voice.

My parents were there, weren't they? During the attack? They were killed that night...that was why I came after Sasha...I only knew they had died there, I had no idea they had been part of an attack...I thought she killed them in cold blood...but she was trying to protect herself...and her family...

She slammed her fist into the counter.

How could they be part of such a hateful mission? I can't believe my parents helped to kill her family...How could they? I HATE them for doing it!

He put a hand on her shoulder reassuringly.

My poor child, they were only doing what they thought would help the order, they had no idea what the mission was, or who they were attacking. And no one was supposed to get hurt. I am so sorry for your pain...

She cried out and rushed forward into his arms, and after the shock, he wrapped his arms around her and rubbed her back, whispering soothing words into her ear. After the sobs subsided, she pulled away.

I hope Sasha will be okay...She looked so upset when she ran off...and she's been through so much...

She trailed off, thinking what she would have done if she had been in Sasha's place, hearing everything the old man had said. She didn't think she would have been strong enough to handle it. He put a hand on her shoulder, bringing her out of her thoughts as she looked up at him. He smiled wearily.

Me too, child. Me too...

OOC: Sorry for the length, I had to make up for lost time...a lot needed to happen in this post to get my side story going...I have been up for a few hours working on this and I am dead tired so sorry if there are any grammatical mistakes...I tried to check through and get most of them, but as i said I am really tired and probably missed some...but I hope they don't get in the way of reading the post...Glad to be back!

Shane stood there rooted in place as the entire story unfolded. This sounds familiar but vague. he thought to himself. He had heard stories passed down from his grandfather and his grandfathers father about a group of people who were extremely violent to people not apart of their group. I wonder if it's the same group of people that Great Great Grandpa died over. He shrugged it off mentally. If I remember the story right. He wondered onto their lands and the chief shot him down thinking he was a thief. Would make sense. Then The old man started talking about how the parents died. The entire time he wanted to pull Sasha into his arms and cover her ears but he knew that she needed to know herself.

He took it all in with anger but not hatred. "Sasha." He said softly. He then looked over at Shique who also seemed to have a pained expression. He kept his words to himself.

He listened to the very end. When the old man said that Sasha's grandfather was part of the attack on her family. To awaken a gene, he killed his own kid!? He thought to himself. Theres purist, then there is insane, In a time of peace even if the shifters didn't have to transform wouldn't the gene still be there? I mean it's a gene, it doesn't just fade out over time. So even in a time of need the gene would re-awaken no matter how many centuries passed. He continued to think.

Then Sasha let out a scream and he knew what was about to happen. "SASHA WAIT" He called as she ran off. "Dangit you know I can't keep up with your speed." He sighed.

Then the old man spoke to him. "I kind of understand, protect the daughter from the man right? He'll taker her away." He looked off in Sasha's direction. "I don't think you have to worry about that though. She will do what ever she wants, nothing much I can do to stop her." He turned to chase her down. "I appreciate your apology. I too must apologize for being rude to you. But I have to go. You say she may need time alone. But if she stays alone for too long she may not come back as herself." He then took off after her.


"SASHA WAIT UP!" He called out as he ran through the wooded area. He followed her as far as he could before he tripped over a root that was over exposed. "Didn't compensate well enough, I'd be dead now if I were in danger." He thought out loud. He stood up and started to chase her again, blood slowly poured from a cut on his forehead and his palms where he slid. He searched and searched but could not find her.

Somewhere deep inside the storm that was Sasha's mind, she heard Shane's voice, but the rage and pain drowned it out, and it never reached Sasha's mind. She kept running until she ran out of energy and collapsed, naked and sobbing, on a familiar clifftop. She passed out of consciousness where she was, and her body collapsed in a heap of tears and trembling muscles on the edge of a cliff where she had lain once before, overtaken by pain and anger and unable to break free of her own thoughts and emotions. It was there that her body laid, waiting to be found again by a savior in her time of need.

OOC: Sorry guys, was in training at my new job, and things were crazy for a while, but I WILL ALWAYS COME BACK!!!

Shane continued to look. Not paying any attention to his wounds. He caught track of Sasha's footprints and started to follow them. Noticing how they changed back from wolf to human. She can't be too far now. he thought. He passed a stream and washed his hands because they were starting to numb. Thats when he saw Sasha laying just a few yards ahead on a cliff side. He stood up and walked over to her. He took off his jacket and covered her with it and picked her up. He started to carry her back towards his camp site not far from the hut. He didn't want to take her back to her master. Not yet, he wanted to make sure she could face him again before he forced her back there.
