Why Do Shinigami Hide their True Power?

yups, agree on the trump card part, was about to say it, but its already mentioned :P would like to add, for us as an audience, we would surely like to see it, but for them in their world, they wont wanna waste it, since when opponents know about it, opponents will definately anlysze the situation in order to beat their bankai.

u will gain the advantage if know bout your enemy, and your enemy does not know about u. thats just basic fighting concepts i guess

just a thought: how come yumichika is missed out?

i wonder if yumichika has bankai? rem the ss arc? he kinda says "shuuu, pls dont tell anyone what happened" to his enemy. and he ended up winning so maybes its a bankai after all? just like how ikkaku has it but doesnt wanto use it until the fight with the arrancar? hmmmm

oh and, also the fact that he said he is stronger than ikkaku, but he does not want to offend anyone by sitting at their seats, and didnt like the number 4, so he took the number 5 seat instead? weird huh... so i guess its kinda hidden in a way, his abilities i mean

One he never said he was stronger then Ikkaku and secondly he doesn't have bankai. That other form of his Shikai is his true shikai form. The only thing that he said was that he was stronger then 5 seat level.

I agree with you to a point about the trump card thing but some of the Shinigami hold back their Trump cards when they obviously need to use them.

Bankai? Nope. thats the true form of his shikai. and he is not stronger than ikkaku. He said that he is 3rd seat level but ikkaku is third seat so he cant have it, so he could have been a 4th seat but he thinks that number looks ugly so he chose to be a 5th seat because it was the closest number that looks like a 3.

Not to mention that Ikkaku is way above third seat himself. He also hides his true strength and his Bankai for fear of being made a Captain.

what do you mean by true form of shikai? i thought once u release the shikai, its a shikai, its already the true form rite? there is a truerer form than that of wat we are seeing now? confuseeee.....

yup agree on the hiding by ikkaku, he obviously can do bankai, just that he doesnt want to show it, fearing () or maybe just lazy to fill in the position of a captain, hmmmm ::salis

Yamchika doesn't like the sound of his Zanpuktoa's name or it's powers. So he says it wrong and it takes the form that you see originally. When he calls out it's name correctly it revels it's true shikai form and powers.

I've got to say that Urahara is probably hiding the most. Because he seems to be the one character where you can't get a good range of power from. Yamamoto you know he's good because of his ranking, along with everyone else. But the only sense of power you get from Urahara is from a few short fights and then a little bit of flashbacks. Other than that, you have nothing else you can use to determine his power.

Plus, he seems as though he would like to hide his power, because he doesn't want others to see how well he can fight. So he tries to disguise it and just go along with it.

Shinigami hide their true power so they don't incinerate all the humans around them. We saw what happened when Yammy got close to Tatsuki.

I would say that..>,> Well, it's a toss-up between , , , , . They all hide their powers. Aizen, I don't think really hides his powers. We all know that he's insanely powerful. I mean he owned Komamura without even a flick of the wrist. And Tosen got owned by Kenpachi. So, nothing new really there. >,< It's toooo harrrddd. *pout* And we all also know that old man Yamma is a mighty strong dude after seeing him release his Zanpakuto infront of Shunsui and Ukitake. But Shunsui, Ukitake, Kisuke, Gin, and Shinji are in my oppinion the only ones who have yet to show their true powers. Shunsui's true power if ever he would release it..would probably be like being hit with a Super Nova blast a thousand fold. And Ukitake has his sickness to contend with. But I know his power if released would more or less have the same impact as Shunsui. And Shinji and Kisuke would be less than Shunsui and Ukitake but themselves would rival each other. And my Ichimaru-sama is just too calm.....part of not being able ta read teh guy is teh reason why it is so hard ta pinpoint how strong he is. And I don't doubt my Ichi-kun's strenght. Not at'all. I'm not calling him teh strongest. I just know that he's stronger then he's given credit for. So ya Gin-Haters and so on can just relax and remove the twist that ya'all panties are in. lol Just kidden. Ya know I love all of ya. ^_^
