Post Is Ukitake's sickness contagious?
Maybe I missed an episode but I don't believe anyone explained how Ukitake got his sickness and if someone else can catch it. People hang around him all the time but no one has gotten sick like him. Is it something that travels by air or is his sickness purely just something wrong with his body?

i don't think its contagious as shunsui would have caught it by now. those two barely spend time apart. it would just be his failing health not a contagious disease.

It seems to be implied he has turberculosis, which in answer to your question would be contageous. However, I don't seem to really understand how death works amongst death gods. I think you should not look too much into it. The illness makes Ukitakes character, he is the very strong morally and interlectually, however the illness holds him back. I think TK just wanted a character like that. The captains do represent alot of different types of people.

uhhh i dun think its contagious ._.
I bet hes just like i was when i was a little kid XD, that is he has no real sickness, just general poor health and a bad immune system which would mean he catches colds and other sicknesess REALLY easily lol

Yes this makes perfect sense. So I guess Ukitake could kiss as many babies as he wants (joke). I guess is he did have a baby it would have the sickness though.

Ukitake has tuberculosis, it's not contagious it's something you gain if you're born with weak lungs. So it's not really possible to catch it.
